The unique challenges of the prison environment demand great attention to detail in ensuring that any washroom equipment or sanitaryware is secure, with no accessible voids or areas that could be used for the concealment of items.
This care and attention is the reason why Her Majesty’s Prison Service chose Saville Stainless to supply purpose-built, stainless steel, floor-standing cupboards for use in its Gibraltar prison.
As we were unable to manually check measurements, we remotely gauged the dimensions and fittings required for the customer’s specification, producing cupboards that were double-skinned, contained lockable doors and were powdered to a specified regulation colour for use in the prison.
As a follow-up project, the prison required a bespoke combination worktop and sink unit, designed in an unusual ‘L’-shape, and with the same remote measurement and extra security features we included in the previous project.
Both projects were completed within estimated times and budgets, and the units were transported securely to the prison – in total, exceeding the customer’s expectations.
